Clayton and I are lucky to live in such a gorgeous area of Montana. One of our favorite things to do when we have nice weather and time to waste is to simply take a drive and see where it leads us, and we always come across something new and beautiful to see. This is a scene of the Flathead River, less than a half hour drive from our house. I love the brilliant bluish-green hue of the water and jagged edges of the canyon rock, a breathtaking view.

The first photo of these two is one of my favorites. As you can probably tell from previous posts, I love when a photograph possesses a "painterly" quality. And to me, the photo of the roses is a perfect example...it's as if the glints of light, shadows and highlights were added perfectly by the stroke of a brush instead of the rays of the sun.

This is another Glacier Park image. I love the pop of red against the more muted hues, and played around with some funky post-processing to emphasize it.

Let me introduce you to Socks, Clayton's family's cat. I took this photo last August the same weekend I took the photos in the previous post. You'd think taking a good photo of a cat would be easy, but it's harder than you'd think...I followed Socks around for a good 15 minutes and the majority of the photos turned out nothing like I'd wanted. For this one, though, he actually sat still long enough to get the photo I pictured, and I love how it turned out.

Today's images are also from the Bitterroot fishing trip last August. I love the beautiful morning light in the first image and its layered composition. And in the second image, I love the interaction between Clayton and his dad, as if his dad is instructing him where to fish next.

Anyone who knows my husband knows he has an incredible passion for fishing. He talks lures and fishing spots like I talk fonts and design. I think if he could fish for a living, there would be no question what his chosen profession would be.

Every summer, when he is lucky enough to not have to work, he fishes every chance he gets. And if I'm not working, I often go along with my camera, sometimes throwing in a line, but mostly just snapping photos. Our "fishing adventures" as we like to call them, are some of my most favorite times.

These next photos I took while we were visiting Clayton's parents for a weekend last August. I was invited along on a "fishing adventure" with Clayton, his Dad, and their family friend Kenny. I almost chose not go to, as it was a 5am trip, and even the prospect of great photos really didn't compare to my warm bed. But I dragged (or is it drug?) myself out of bed anyways, and I'm glad I did, because I was able to get some really great shots.

The first two are a couple of my absolute favorites, not necessarily because I think they are amazing photos, but because of the story behind them. See, Kenny (in red) actually taught Clayton's Dad (Steve) how to fish. So here we have Kenny who taught Steve and Steve who in turn taught Clayton, which I think is pretty neat.

And I just had to add this one in- Clayton caught a record-breaker that day :)
